Irish whiskey, elderflower liqueur, fresh lemon juice, honey simple syrup, muddled cucumber and mint come together for the Irish Maid, an Irish-inspired cocktail recipe enjoyed on St. Patrick’s Day. This recipe was shared by the mixologists at Park Heights Restaurant in Tupelo, Mississippi, using handcrafted honey simple syrup. Use regular simple syrup as a a substitute. Sláinte!

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 ounces Irish whiskey, such as Jameson
  • 1/4 ounce (1 1/2 teaspoons) elderflower liqueur, such as St. Germain Elderflower
  • 1/2 ounce (1 tablespoon) fresh lemon juice
  • 1/2 ounce honey simple syrup; substitute regular simple syrup
  • 3 thin slices of cucumber, plus additional slice for garnish
  • Fresh mint, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Muddle the cucumbers in a cocktail shaker. Add liquids and ice and shake vigorously.
